Pedals and Peace: A Snapshot of My Week

This weekend, I went biking with my nephew for the first time this summer. We enjoyed a refreshing hour-long bike ride at the forest preserve. Since both of us tend to be homebodies, this outdoor adventure was a welcome change. It provided us with the opportunity to take a break from our electronic devices.

We each listened to our own music as we pedaled along the winding trails, surrounded by trees, fellow bikers and walkers. Throughout our ride, we encountered hills along our path.

As I bike uphill I couldn't help but reflect on the love and hate relationship I have with them. The uphill battles really test my determination and perseverance. I wanted to get off my bike and walked instead of pushing it through. But I didn't. It's hard going uphill, but the reward of rushing downhill make it worthwhile.

It dawned on me that this experience mirrors the struggles I encounter in life. Sometimes, the journey uphill may be tough, but the subsequent moments of joy and the satisfaction that comes from pushing through the struggles make the entire journey meaningful.

This biking adventure with my nephew has shown me the joy of appreciating small things in life. The simple act of being present in the moment, enjoying the fresh air, and spending time with loved ones has filled my heart with happiness. Happiness is right in front of me. There's no need to keep chasing after it. It may not be everlasting, but it replenishes daily.

We replenish our energy with food!!
