My First Blog Post On My Own Website

I manage to create my own website.

I only want to simply blog without worrying about the design and managing the backend on my own. I stumbled upon a Youtube tutorial that I could have my own domain name using Blogger. It's an old platform. I've heard about it, but I didn't know I could have my own custom domain name.

Yesterday I purchased a domain name using my real name on Google Domains. I've been wanting to have a website of my own for a while now.

What actually stop from not having own is the cost.

A few years back I created a website using Wordpress. I paid for both domain and hosting fees. At first it didn't seem to cost that much. However, over time it gets more and more expensive. I didn't make any money from it. My ROI is in the negative.

There's also deep learning curve on hosting your own website, and I didn't give myself enough time to learn about the platform before diving in. I couldn't get it up running the way I wanted. I also wasn't consistent in creating contents back then.

This time around I want to keep my expenses low. With blogger I only have to pay for a yearly domain fee. Nothing else. I also don't have to deal with the complexing of hosting my own site. I could see myself blogging using this site for years without having to invest so much money upfront. It doesn't put me under pressure to make something great or to earn money from this adventure.

I will mostly use this personal blog as a a log to document my life and thoughts for my future self. Nothing important. Just daily mundane activities.

I also hope to find out whether or not blogging (writing is general) is something I truly enjoy doing.

Would I regret publicize my life on web? Or would I regret not doing this?

Let's find out together.

Thank you for being in this journey with me.
